New Year's Eve: A quiet, cozy affair

Due to the fact that Chris was scheduled to report for work at 4 AM on New Year's Day, our evening of celebration was a quiet affair at home this year, involving a few of my neighborhood girlfriends, cozy pj's, and awakening Chris from slumber at midnight to claim my rightful kiss. Work or no work, I had to start my year off right. ;-)

After spending the day grocery shopping (and I do mean the whole day -- I mean business and try and shop for most of the month, barring veggies)...

...I put together a few goodies for us ladies to enjoy after Chris hit the sack, which included brie, gruyere, cabernet salami (from Trader Joe's), homemade salsa, hummus, and almond champagne for our midnight toasts (also from Trader Joe's and simply delicious!) My friend Ruth surprised us with a German chocolate cake to add to our spread of yummy eats.

My lovely New Year's guests

My cousin was in NYC for New Year's Eve, and we kept hoping to sneak a peak of him in the crowd on TV. Thirty-nine seconds, and counting at this point. Wouldn't be official without Dick to count us down. :)

Happy New Year!

Popping the bubbly.

*Cheers*

Sneaking in to our bedroom to wake Chris up for a New Year's photo...

...and kiss! :)
