Like many young couples, Chris and I have spent countless hours (before and after marriage) talking and dreaming about the day we would become home owners. While we know that ultimately, "home is where the heart is," and we will always be at home when we're together, we have longed to have a little square footage and a quaint plot of land to call our very own.
Growing up, I always imagined my dream home to look something like this, homey and quaint, right out of the pages of a beautiful story book:
When we found out in February that we were moving to Charlotte for Chris's new job, we were beyond thrilled, and immediately set out on our house-hunting adventure. Little did we know that we were about to find the house of our dreams...and quickly.
Flash forward to Thursday, March 24, 8:30 PM: Not only was this moving day, but it just so happened to be our 17-month wedding anniversary. :)
Dressed in sweats, and covered in dust from cleaning, and cardboard debris from packing, Chris and I found ourselves at our local FedEx store. Together we were taking our biggest leap yet as a married couple: making an offer on a house in Charlotte we had positively fallen in love with.
As we don't own a fax machine, we spent the better part of three hours at this little FedEx store, signing, dating, and faxing off pages and pages of legal jargon in hopes of having our offer accepted. Thankfully, I had my iPhone on me to document the blessed event, grubbies and all:
Flash back to Sunday, March 20: The day we found (and fell in love with) our future home!
Chris and I were in Charlotte on an extended house-hunting trip during that weekend, and on day three of our hunt, we found "The" house. Crazy, I know.
As particular as we both are (we had written out exactly what features we did and did not want in our future home, the way the neighborhood, street, and yard should look, and what amenities we hoped for, etc.) I honestly had expected us to be hunting for months, not days, for the right home.
But just like with love and marriage, when you know, you know...and we knew. :)
Flash forward to Friday, March 25: Our offer was accepted! That's right, not only did we find a house we love, but we were now under contract. Let the paperwork begin.
Flash forward to the present: We are finishing up the inspection process, and so far everything is proceeding as planned. God willing, Chris and I are set to close on our new home the end of this month.
As we work to complete the remaining details -- and endless paperwork -- your prayers are greatly appreciated. If you've gone through this process before, you know how much needs to be done, and approved, to make the sale official. We have peace that if this is truly the house for us, everything will work out. I'll share more as we know more.
And now...
...for a sneak peak...
...of our soon-to-be dream home! :)
I'll post more house pictures soon.

This is such a blessing Rachel! Robert and I have been there, done that... it is very stressful, but wonderful at the same time :) And great that you have not just any home, but your DREAM home!!! We are still in prayer about that ourselves.
P.S. I especially love the Lynchburg-esque quality of this home! It reminds me of a place I did babysitting at while at LU :)
